the story

NASA became interested in the emerging world of smartwatch technology and was looking to leverage this technology to create a smartwatch app that could be helpful to astronauts. So NASA’s Center of Excellence for Collaborative Innovation ran a design contest on Freelancer.com. The challenge was to design the general user interface for smart watch applications for use on the International Space Station.


THE GOAL


Using the Samsung Gear S as a hardware reference for the design creating wireframes highlighting the unique design’s navigation, interaction, layout, look and feel for the Crew Timeline application, the Caution & Warnings application, the Communication Status and the Timers application within a single app with multiple functions which directs attention to the appropriate information for a task and increase efficiency and provides appropriate feedback to actions.

  • Build the interaction model.
  • Creating wirefames for certain functions.
