Website redesign

the story

As one of the national market leaders in flooring products, the client was not happy with the existing design of their website dating back to the 1990s. Based on their clients’ reviews it turned out that even though the website has a good place on Google’s ranking, they cannot find crucial information onsite.


THE GOAL


Our goal was creating a better user experience by changing the interaction and the user interface design.

MY ROLE

  • Collaborate with stakeholders in defining objectives.
  • Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
  • Prepare a competitor analysis.
  • Creating wireframes and an interactive prototype.

I studied the old site in detail and listed everything that might influence the user experience in a negative way, starting from the high contrast of the UI, through the inconsistent navigation, and not intuitive interaction to small thumbnail images and the linked pricelists in Word documents etc.

after

The new design designates a greater portion to the bold product images that are available from the manufacturers. The content became well organised, and user interaction is more intuitive by implementing animations. The UI got a modern look and feel, which differenciates the brand from the competitors.
